POLLUTION

Pollution is  the introduction of contaminants (substances, energy, or even light or sound) into the natural environment that cause harm to living organisms, ecosystems, and human well-being .  Pollutants can be naturally occurring, but pollution generally refers to human-caused contamination, often at a rate faster than the environment can naturally process and store it harmlessly.  Major types of pollution include air pollution, water pollution, and land pollution, along with others such as noise pollution and light pollution.

TYPE OF POLLUTION

Here are the main types of pollution with their definitions: Air Pollution :  The presence of harmful substances, such as gases, particulate matter, or organic molecules, in the atmosphere.  This can originate from industrial emissions, vehicles, or even natural events like volcanic eruptions.   Water Pollution :  The contamination of water bodies like rivers, lakes, and oceans by chemicals, sewage, industrial waste, and litter.  It reduces the purity of the water and can harm aquatic life and human health.   Soil Pollution :  The degradation of land surfaces due to the accumulation of harmful solid and liquid waste materials, including chemicals and pesticides.  This contaminates the soil and can make it unusable.   Noise Pollution :  Excessive, unwanted, or irritating sound levels that disrupt daily activities and affect human and animal life.  Sources include industries, transportation, and construction.   Ther...

AIR POLLUTION AND THEIR CAUSES

Air Pollution :  The presence of harmful substances,  such as gases, particulate matter, or  organic molecules, in the atmosphere.  This can originate from industrial emissions,  vehicles, or even natural events like volcanic  eruptions. CAUSES OF AIR POLLUTION: 1. The Burning of Fossil Fuels Most of the air pollution takes place due to the incomplete burning of fossil fuels. These include coal, oil, and gasoline to produce energy for electricity or transportation. The release of CO at a high level indicates how much fossil fuel is burned. This also emits other toxic pollutants like nitrogen oxides into the air. Inhaling air induced with pollutants due to the burning of natural gas and fossil fuel  reduces the heart’s ability to pump  enough oxygen. Hence causing one to suffer from various respiratory and heart illnesses. Furthermore, the nitrogen oxides are responsible for acid rain and the formation of smog.  When fossil fuels are burned, t...
